Regular Season Round 3: Santurce - Caguas 107-102

There was a small surprise whenCangrejeros (3-2) beat Criollos (3-2) in Santurce 107-102 on Thursday. Santurce made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Caguas outrebounded Santurce 40-24 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Santurce looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Malik Beasley (196-1996, college: FSU) who led the winners and scored 34 points (!!!). Naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands guard Walter Hodge (183-1986, college: Florida) accounted for 21 points and 6 assists for the winning side. American point guard Travis Trice II (183-1993, college: Michigan St.) came up with 28 points and 8 assists and international power forward Alexander Kappos (208-1997, college: Dalhousie) added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Caguas in the defeat. Four Santurce and five Caguas players scored in double figures. Criollos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total thirteen players in this game, but that didn't help. Cangrejeros will meet at home San German in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Criollos will play against Manati and hope to secure a win.
